[ ....So. The thing about burrowing your way through time and space, trying to make your way to the origin of all life in a panicked, manic fugue, is that there is a chance you will miss the mark and end up somewhere else.
Such has happened to Kuja.
On the end of things in Maedhros' home, weird bullshit had been happening for over a week. In a particular patch of sky directly above -- I'm gonna be frank my Silm geography knowledge is very thin so if you have a cool locale to suggest we should go with it -- _____, a strange rift had opened, and there had roiled and raged ever since.
The nature of this rift was of a collapsing point in the world, a sinkhole of sorts. But it would not become easily apparent as such unless you went in.
Investigation into the rift would reveal an interior that was even more bizarre; it was far larger than the area it occupied outside, inside. Heavenly light clashed with crumbling architecture, with a single path leading ceaselessly deeper. Dangerous creatures prowled, appearing with little warning... and the longer one spent delving, the more apparent it became that the places any brave investigators saw, in pieces and disarray, were all composed of ones they had seen before.
Of agonizing significance was the far-off yet unmistakable sight, sometimes bursting through the towering cloud cover, of the two lamps.
....I know Kuja hasn't technically done anything yet but!! I figure this would be a good point to let you have some input into the prompt!! if this is a little much lemme kno. ]
[Of course it would happen at Himring. As close as they were to the stronghold of the enemy it was a given that any trouble would reach them first. That is at least what Maedhros had thought when the strangeness had begun, when the large tear had appeared in the sky not far from them.
Leaving the thing alone and hoping for the best was out of the question and Maedhros would not send his men into danger that he would not face himself. So he and a few others of his most competent and experienced men had left to investigate it. Now he was not so sure this was something Morgoth had conjured anymore. This place was strange, disconcerting even, but it lacked the sickening feeling his creations often conjured within him.
The creatures were difficult, but not beyond his abilities to deal with. Unfortunately he had lost the men he'd brought to them and now found himself alone before whatever it was that was happening in the distance.]
[ 'Whatever was happening in the distance' turned out to be quite a lot. Before Maedhros' eyes, a swathe of mismatched structures, towers and staircases and things with no cogent identity at all -- all burst apart like clay vases hitting the ground, shattered by a shooting star of bright purple energy.
At the destruction's epicenter was a flash of red, orbited briefly by that terrible star before it faded out. That splash of red soon came to rest closer by on the blasted remnants of a statue's base.
Now stilled, the figure became clear as a young, rather androgynous man with a long, furry tail in torn white clothes, his chest heaving with short, labored breathes. He didn't seem to notice Maedhros yet, too busy running a hand over his face as if to ward away some invisible pain. ]
It's not here. How could it not be here? I felt it-- calling out to me like a song...!
[He makes his way stealthyly towards the... whatever this is. Making sure to keep himself as out of sight as someone of his stature can. If he had any sense in his head at all he'd run right back to where he'd come from, but he wasn't going to do so until he had a better idea about what exactly was happening here.
Whatever he had expected it wasn't this. He wonders if this being is some sort of Maia, and if so wich side of this conflict it has chosen. He listens intently to what the being say. Song? Are they speaking about the Great Song? That which the very world is made out of? He makes sure his sword is within easy reach before he approaches.]
What is not here, if I might ask? And why have you come here seeking it?
